About This Work
The sea! the sea! The endless sea! The deep, the wild, the eternally free! As viewers looks at my work, I hope they can’t help but be transported into the my world, sailing around the world with my family for seven years. An incredible journey: 7 years, 30,000 nautical miles / 55,000 kilometers, 28 countries. Storms, waves, transatlantic passages, the almost incomprehensible vastness of the Pacific, weeks with no land in sight, isolated islands... The „Beyond the sea“ series captures the essence of the sea and sailing, evoking a sense of freedom and adventure, especially offshore sailing. 70 x 100 cm / 27.5“x 39“ in Acrylics/mixed media on canvas ready to hang, stretched. Some examples show floating frame, recommend but not necessary, sides are painted. I'm a fulltime freelance artist since 2003 but in 2009 my life took an extraordinary turn. My husband, our two children, and I left our home behind and moved onto a sailing yacht — a decision that opened the door to seven unforgettable years on the world’s oceans. What followed was a journey of 30,000 nautical miles (55.000 km), 28 countries, and countless moments that reshaped the way I see the world. We crossed storms and towering waves, made transatlantic passages, and felt the overwhelming vastness of the Pacific, where for weeks no land broke the horizon. We discovered remote islands untouched by time — and yet also found ourselves anchored for months in places like Sydney, Panama City, and New York, moored on the Hudson River with the Manhattan skyline shimmering before us. I spent a year and a half in French Polynesia, where the culture taught me something profound: slow down, breathe, and truly live the moment. These years changed me — as a person and as an artist — and their spirit echoes through everything I create today.
