Untitled No. 327 by Jeremy Prim Painting, Oil on Canvas 48.0 inch x 60.0 inch $3,000

Recently, I had an experience that got me thinking. I was in a conversation with a local artist and she turned to me and told me how fulfilled she is by her job. She smiled and said, “It’s amazing to create arts and crafts for a living!”

Ah yes, arts and crafts. This was a phrase we hear often as kids, getting yanked along to summer camps with hot glue guns in hand. We all remember arts and crafts.

Where The Lovers Meet by Katrina Avotina Painting, Acrylic on Canvas 24.0 inch (61.0 cm) x 20.0 inch (50.8 cm) $1,168

But this adult artist was creating a lot more than a simple macaroni necklace. Most art has deep and profound meaning behind it. But is some art, simply just arts and crafts?

In my opinion, art can be defined by how it moves an individual. Whether a piece of work is serious or lighthearted, worth millions of dollars or awash in sentimental value, art is in the eye of the beholder.

The King of the World by Hugo Pondz Painting, Oil on Canvas 35.0 inch x 47.0 inch $10,317

Calling a true masterpiece simply a work of “arts and crafts” might be demeaning, but it also could be correct. Who says Van Gough didn’t put as much effort into his Starry Night as Timmy did with his handprint turkey? Art is all about intention.

Whether you intend to work away for years at art school, or simply enjoy the artwork of another, there is art out there for you. At Zatista, we celebrate all intentions and all artists. With collections of original artwork from around the world, great works and great stories abound, no two alike. Enjoy art, that’s the bottom line!
