This area is home to one of the Northeast\u2019s oldest and most recognized artist colonies, and today, remains one of the prime destinations for artists and tourists alike.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7647\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zatista.com\/product\/details\/11105\/rock-harbor-morning\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7647\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7647\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zatista.com\/art\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Rock-Harbor-Morning-400x312.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"312\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-7647\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rock Harbor Morning by Kathy Weber on Zatista.com<\/p><\/div>\n<p>On the very tip of Cape Cod lies <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Provincetown,_Massachusetts\">Provincetown<\/a>, which has been a draw for famous artists of the past such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theartstory.org\/artist-kline-franz.htm\">Franz Kline<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Marsden_Hartley\"> Marsden Hartley<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.willem-de-kooning.com\/\">Willem de Kooning<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jacksonpollock.com\/\">Jackson Pollock<\/a> as well as many writers including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eoneill.com\/biography.htm\">Eugene O\u2019Neill<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tennessee_Williams\">Tennessee Williams<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vonnegut.com\/\">Kurt Vonnegut<\/a>. Kelly on Zatista.com<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Cape Cod National Seashore is the collective term for the section of protected land on the ocean side of the peninsula. On August 7, 1961, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jfklibrary.org\/\">President John F. Kennedy<\/a> signed a bill designating approximately 44,000 acres as America\u2019s first oceanfront national park, forever putting it out of the reach of commercial developers. The park turns 50 years old this August, and many celebrations are planned to mark this monumental event.
