If hanging a piece with glass across from a window, you&#8217;re going to see reflections in the glass more often than you&#8217;ll see the art, even if you&#8217;ve framed with museum or non-glare glass. If you hang works on paper in direct sunlight, it will certainly fade. Even indirect sunlight will fade works on paper if it&#8217;s bright enough. Most oil and acrylic paintings will do fine for a while in direct sun, but ideal lighting is diffused natural light or good old fashioned light bulbs. Exposure to light or sun especially over a very, very long period of time will produce changes in the colors of the artwork. Heat exposure (which often occurs to art hung over a fireplace mantle or stored in a space that isn&#8217;t climate controlled) may cause paint to dry, crack and flake off canvas.
