The installation depicts an Oscar snorting cocaine with a plaque reading, \u201cHollywood&#8217;s Best Part.\u201d The artist removed the statue after a complaint, but planned to display it again on Melrose Avenue, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/news\/national\/cocaine-snorting-oscar-statue-pops-hollywood-boulevard-article-1.2122926\">NY Daily News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_16784\" style=\"width: 413px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zatista.com\/art\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/02\/oscaar.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16784\" class=\"wp-image-16784 \" src=\"https:\/\/www.zatista.com\/art\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/oscaar-400x343.jpg\" alt=\"oscaar\" width=\"403\" height=\"346\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zatista.ie\/art\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/02\/oscaar-400x343.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.zatista.ie\/art\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2015\/02\/oscaar.jpg 593w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 403px) 100vw, 403px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-16784\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo Source: https:\/\/instagram.com\/plasticjesus\/<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Known as the &#8216;Banksy of LA&#8217;, Plastic Jesus\u00a0strives to uncover hidden truths about culture, politics and world events. This was not his only shot at the untold version of Hollywood\u00a0&#8211; he\u00a0erected a similar statue in the wake of Philip Seymour Hoffman\u2019s death from a heroin overdose.\u00a0This &#8216;Addicted Oscar&#8217; appeared on Hollywood Boulevard and got the same attention the current installation\u00a0is receiving. Buzzfeed has already dedicated a post to the artist\u2019s creation, and has been quoted saying Plastic Jesus is the artist to watch.<\/p>\n<p>Art used as symbol for societal problems is not a new concept by any means. What better way to get the world to hear your concern than to make art that will permeate media outlets? Art can isolate, visualize and perpetuate cultural issue, and it has.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zatista.com\/product\/details\/37964\/War-On-Drugs-Part-2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/zatista-images.s3.amazonaws.com\/products\/14931_6irot3k01gaqv5plneloro2ub5_PfzjGOpZKd37yX60_1_390x520.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"399\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">War On Drugs Part 2 by Johan Wahlstrom $3,100 on Zatista.com<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Similarly, Zatista artist, Johan Wahlstrom, uses art to underline themes he thinks society should be paying attention to. His hauntingly dark paintings raise questions of privacy, the war on drugs, and governmental control. Four of these paintings have strong images of our presidents surrounded by dark gloomy faces while other pictures depict sorrow and suicide, scarcely using any color. In a Q&amp;A with Artvoices Magazine, Wahlstrom said House of Lies explores politics, hatred, greed, poverty, wealth, envy, religion and corruption.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zatista.com\/product\/details\/42884\/Are-You-Happy-Now-Part-2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/zatista-images.s3.amazonaws.com\/products\/14931_hbt65mc56l23h8d8apsjnrgfu2_8xW3peo4rrC799Up_1_390x520.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"399\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Are You Happy Now Part 2 by Johan Wahlstrom $6,600 on Zatista.com<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Wahlstrom\u00a0says, \u201cMy intention is clear \u2013 I want to influence people to have a better daily life. Influence people to think about what is truly important and what is less important. My series aims to illustrate the hypocrisy and corruption that defines the world and should be fought to incite positive change.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zatista.com\/product\/details\/39099\/Detached\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/zatista-images.s3.amazonaws.com\/products\/1131_s8e5bspi1jsg1h4ojau3qtrdf1_B64I620dHEE6LByB_1_390x520.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Detached by Debbie Pacheco $1,500 on Zatista.com<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Another Zatista artist, Debbie Pacheco\u2019s paintings focus more narrowly on a technology dependent society. Many of her works depict those missing the art or world around them due to\u00a0their captivation with phone conversations. &#8216;Detached&#8217; was inspired by a woman the artist\u00a0observed who remained unphased by an Andy Warhol because she was texting. In her description of the painting she says, \u201cThe contrast was amusing. The images in the painting were almost mocking her while she remained unaware.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zatista.com\/product\/details\/33023\/Captivated\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\" https:\/\/zatista-images.s3.amazonaws.com\/products\/1131_habg07ma99p6ep4vgcuu1aabp0_44tKs07oTL0Xzz8H_1_390x520.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"576\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Captivated by Debbie Pacheco $275 on Zatista.com<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Debbie Pacheco\u00a0believes the now global community is increasingly connected by technology but disconnected to its surroundings. This disconnect in culture produces lonely, isolated individuals whom she depicts in her contemporary, abstract paintings. &#8216;Disconnected&#8217; catches moments where women are entranced by technology but disconnected from the world they walk through.<\/p>\n<p>Art is often\u00a0thought provoking, but some art sends a very specific message. These artists carry a message throughout their art that they hope will resonate\u00a0enough to inspire change.
